Soooo…I have a troll that lives inside my head that forces me to buy these carved front pieces. Thanks to an awesome blog post by Victoria Elizabeth Barnes shared by my friend Kayla I came to know about her. The troll inside my head I meant. Her blog is wildly entertaining, you should check it out, and my conversations with my “carved front troll” sound very similar to her’s with her “mirror troll.”
Yes, every single time I see these super ugly carved front pieces on Craigslist something inside my head tells me that I should totally get them. I think the troll moved in with this piece I did, and she’s got a strong will.
Anyway, this was another ugly, never-would’ve-looked-at-it-in-my-past-life, brown piece.
I didn’t like the pulls on it. At all. But, I wanted to DIY the agate pulls that I used on a custom entryway piece for a client. I bought agate slices from an etsy seller. I will have to do a separate DIY agate pulls post on it soon.
These look the best in white or any light color IMO. There’s so much going on with the carving that the color needs to take a back seat, although I have seen these done in dark navy and they looked amazing as well.
Here’s the after —
I love the after of this so much!! I had some pretty paper from Spoonflower sitting around which matched the scroll pattern on the front oh so perfectly! I used it on the drawer front.
That’s the best thing about these credenzas….no need to paint the drawers! That saves a ton of work, and the paper makes it look so much cooler.
Here’s the closeup of the agate pulls –
So so pretty! Needless to say, I have now stashes of agate slices from various online sources. I will be doing these pulls till everybody gets sick of them.
How can I not buy these pieces that nobody else wants to buy on Craigslist anyway? I mean when the after looks this good, how can I pass it up? So I have purchased three more since. I may have to have a separate category on my blog for just this addiction of mine 🙂
They are wildly popular, I can tell you that much. They are perfect for under a TV or in a dining room. Also as dresser, of course.
I will post one more soon.
